Suited Up vs. Equipped: Relearning Faith at 40
Faith, Fear and God's Promises

Faith, Fear and God's Promises ✞✨
For a long time, I lived with a secret fear. I didn’t think I’d make it to 2026, let alone see age 40. As warriors, we are used to the fight, but sometimes the hardest battle isn’t the pain in our bodies—it’s the doubt in our minds.
But I am standing here today to tell you: God did His "big one."
Beyond the Armor: Relearning the Word
In this community, we talk about being "Warrior Strong." We know how to suit up. We know how to put on the brave face and the advocacy gear. But lately, God has been teaching me that being suited up is not the same thing as being equipped. You can have the title of "Warrior," but are you spiritually equipped for the long haul? At 40, I am relearning things I ignored in my younger years. I’m realizing that moving through life just "having time" isn't enough; I have to change my actions to align with God’s Word. I’m moving from just wearing the armor to actually knowing how to use the Sword.
The Lesson of the Silent Warrior
I’ve been reflecting on Zechariah in Luke Chapter 1. He was a man of God, yet when he was told his "impossible" prayer was answered, he doubted. He spoke out of his fear, and God silenced him for nine months.
I see now that silence wasn't a punishment—it was a preparation. Sometimes God has to quiet our voices so we stop speaking "death" over our situations. He had to equip Zechariah in the silence so that when his son, John, was finally born, Zechariah’s first words were praise, not protest.
Like Zechariah and Elizabeth, we might be "well along in years" or facing "barren" situations in our health, but God alone has the final say. He has spared my life more times than I can count, and He’s doing the same for you.
Standing "Wholesome" in 2026
This year is my Wholesome Shift. To be wholesome is to be undivided. I am no longer split between faith and worry. I am standing wholesome on the Word, which is the only thing that prevents the "sprinkles" of doubt from turning into a storm.
I am who He says I am.
I am not the statistics.
I am not the "past me" who lived in fear.
I am not even the future I think I see—I am whatever He sees.
My Refuge and My Strength
As we move through 2026 together, let’s anchor ourselves in Psalm 62:5-8. My soul finds rest in God alone. He is my rock, my salvation, and my fortress. I will not be shaken by a crisis or a scan.
To my fellow warriors: Stop just "suiting up" for the struggle. Start getting "equipped" for the miracle. God remembers your name, just like He remembered Zechariah.
Trust in Him at all times; pour out your heart to Him, for God is our refuge.
