Red Stick Sickle Cell Group is a voice for the unheard, a safe space for warriors, and a platform for advocacy rooted in lived experience. Through storytelling, healing spaces, and education, we equip sickle cell warriors and their families with the tools to rise boldly—together. Whether you're here to learn, connect, or transform your pain into power, you're in the right place.

What is Sickle Cell Disease..

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is an inherited blood disorder that affects how red blood cells work in the body. In someone with SCD, the red blood cells become hard, sticky, and shaped like a sickle (a curved farming tool), which makes it harder for blood and oxygen to flow through the body. This can cause pain, fatigue, frequent infections, and other serious health issues. While there is no universal cure, many individuals with SCD live long, fulfilling lives with early care, emotional support, and strong family advocacy.

What Sickle Cell Awareness looks like to me…

Sickle cell disease impacts more than 100 thousand worldwide, requiring immense strength and resilience from those who live with it. So, I , Whitney ,created Red Stick Sickle Cell Group. I am a sickle cell warrior, advocate, community health worker, etc. having lived experience, I to build a platform where it would be dedicated to raising awareness, providing support, and empowering warriors and their families.

Through my own journey as a sickle cell warrior, this is creating space for connection, resources, and education. Here, you can join me as I help amplify the voices of those affected by sickle cell disease, build community relationships, and we can work together toward a brighter future within the sickle cell community.
